If you’ve ordered the Octopus Tentacles at Bistro Menil recently, you’ve tasted what we like to call “lime caviar,” otherwise known as finger lime.
Were you wondering where those bursts of citrus came from? They taste sort of like a lime, but you couldn’t quite put your finger on what it was exactly.
Grown primarily in Australia (ours are sourced from California), the finger lime is a sister to the lime but with a slightly different taste and look, having a more cylindrical shape with spherical pulp. The season for this unique citrus runs from mid July to early January.
The effervescent fruit adds an unexpected tang that provides the perfect complement to our Chargrilled Octopus Tentacles with Smoked Paprika and Olive Oil.
