Super Bowl Margarita Recipe

Making margaritas is not difficult at all as long as you have the right ratios.  After a bit of trial and error I have what I feel, and most of my friends and family agree, is a pretty good recipe that makes 7 margaritas.  Perfect for the Super Bowl party as it pairs well with chips, dips, grilled meats and anything with a bit of spice to it.

  • 1 and 1/2 cup silver Tequila
  • 1 cup fresh lime juice (small Mexican limes are best as they are tart with a sweet edge)
  • 1/2 cup simple syrup–mix 1 cup water with 1 cup regular sugar and microwave until the sugar dissolves, about 2 minutes and let cool if needed.  Save remaining syrup for next batch, you will use it
  • 1/2 cup orange liqueur (any high quality orange liqueur will do)

Directions:small margarita

  • In a small pitcher, stir all ingredients together
  • In individual batches, mix 1/2 cup of margarita mixture  with 1/2 cup of ice in a cocktail shaker
  • Shake thoroughly. You will note a cloudiness appear as the ice forms small chips
  • Pour into a coarse salt-rimmed glass
  • Garnish with lime wedge or slices
  • Repeat, repeat, repeat

Shelf life of 1 week
